Everything there is to know about apples

When springtime comes, the valley is covered with pale pink perfumed apple blossom but an unexpected frost can still do so much damage and that is when you’ll see something truly unique, a truly fascinating natural spectacle. The farmers water their orchards so that the precious blossom is protected by a mantel of ice which slowly melts in the heat of the daytime sun.

The Val Venosta apples, mainly juicy Golden Delicious but also tasty Royal Gala and crispy Braeburn, ripen to perfection in the pleasant climate of the valley where the sun shines for 315 days a year. The harvest starts in August and the some farmers sell their produce along the roadside. An apple a day…
